The International Legal Forum has published a briefing paper on International Law and Operation ‘Guardian of the Walls‘, with some commonly and frequently raised questions about Israel’s defensive operation against Hamas in Gaza (including questions about ‘proportionality’, what is a legitimate ‘military target’, breaches of IHL by Hamas, etc). Obviously, there will be only more attention on the legal issues arising out of this campaign in the coming days and period ahead, especially with the ongoing ICC investigation and the UN Human Rights Council just announcing a Commission of Inquiry.
